    What is 40Х13X? (Quick Overview)

    40Х13X is a martensitic stainless grade in the 13%-Cr family designed to harden by quench & temper, offering high hardness, wear resistance, and fair corrosion resistance in mildly aggressive media. Typical uses include cutting tools, shear blades, surgical/dental instruments (non-implant), pump shafts, valve parts, and high-wear fixtures.

    Austenitize ~980–1050 °C; air/oil quench

    Choose temperature for desired hardness/toughness balance; double tempering recommended

    Machinability: good in annealed state; use rigid setups, carbide tooling, coolant

    Weldability: limited — apply qualified procedures with preheat/interpass control and post-weld tempering to reduce cracking and restore toughness
