What is BT22 Titanium Alloy?

BT22 Titanium is a near-beta titanium alloy, also known as Ti-5Al-5Mo-5V-1Cr-1Fe. It offers high strength and hardness, especially in the annealed state, making it ideal for aircraft components that require excellent fatigue resistance and corrosion protection. The alloy's bimodal microstructure provides a perfect balance of toughness, ductility, and strength, ensuring that it performs well under extreme mechanical loads.

Excellent combination of high strength + relatively low density (compared to steels) → good for weight-sensitive structures. Good corrosion-resistance (benefit of titanium alloys) plus performance due to alloying and processing. Capability for large components (plates, forgings) means versatile for structural use. The development of surface/processing treatments (wear resistance studies) indicates good future potential.
