AMG and AMg aluminium alloys are Russian GOST aluminium-magnesium grades developed for applications requiring weldability, seawater resistance and reliable strength in fabricated structures. These grades became popular in shipbuilding, marine hulls, storage tanks, welded pressure vessels, transport components and corrosion resistant engineering parts.

1561 aluminium alloy is used where shipbuilding performance, welded hull strength and marine corrosion resistance are important.

16. Electrical Conductivity

AMG2, AMG3, AMG5, AMG6 and 1561 aluminium alloys are not mainly selected for electrical conductivity. They are preferred for corrosion resistance, weldability, marine strength, shipbuilding and structural fabrication.

17. Density

AMG aluminium alloys are lightweight materials. AMG2 has a density of approximately 2690 kg/m³, AMG3.5 around 2660 kg/m³, and AMG6 around 2640 kg/m³. This makes Russian Metals AMG6 aluminium plate, AMG5 aluminium sheet and 1561 marine aluminium plate suitable for weight-sensitive marine and transport applications.

Strain hardened tempers such as H111, H112, H32 and H321 can improve strength and hardness depending on product form.

19. Tensile Strength

AMG2 aluminium is suitable for moderate strength corrosion resistant parts, while AMG6 aluminium provides higher tensile strength for welded marine structures, tanks and shipbuilding components.

20. Yield Strength

Yield strength depends on temper and cold working. AMG6 cold worked material can provide higher yield strength compared with softer annealed conditions.

27. Oxidation Resistance

AMG and AMg aluminium alloys form a natural oxide layer that supports corrosion protection. Additional surface finishing may be used for aggressive environments, marine exposure or long-term outdoor service.

28. Wear Resistance

AMG6 and 1561 aluminium alloys provide useful wear performance for fabricated structures and machined components. Surface finishing may be selected where abrasion resistance is important.
